Blue Mountain Region Trails Plan

A regional effort to develop a system of non-motorized trails is has resulted in the completion of a concrete plan to use to seek funding for implementation. The Port of Columbia and the City of Dayton and Columbia County planning departments have played an integral role in this work.

Wayfinding Signage Project

A request from the wine industry several years ago led to the formation of a regional coalition for the development of a signage system that will help visitors (and residents) easily navigate their way through the region and find the amenities and attractions our region has to offer.

The Regional Wayfinding Signage Project stretches throughout the Walla Walla Valley from Dayton, WA to Milton-Freewater, OR. Work on this project has been undertaken in three phases:

  • Planning, completed in 2011
  • Design, completed in 2014
  • Implementation, which is ongoing.

The first signs in the system were installed in downtown Dayton in 2017. For more information on the project, please contact Port Executive Director Jennie Dickinson at jennie@portofcolumbia.org or 509-382-2577.
